LINDA COLEMAN FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
The State Employees Association of NC's Employee Political Action Committee (EMPAC) has endorsed Linda Coleman for Lieutenant Governor. Ms. Coleman currently serves as the Director of the Office of State Personnel. As a freshman state representative, Linda Coleman single handedly helped to uphold the budget for public services and the state workers who provide them.
Linda Coleman’s campaign is asking for any available volunteers to help after 10a on any weekday. Campaign headquarters are located at 3141 John Humphries Wynd, Raleigh, NC. Please help out as much as you can and remember these hours can be logged towards your monthly volunteer count.

DISTRICT 19 MEMBER AWARDED
Six employees have been selected by Chancellor Holden Thorp to receive 2012 C. Knox Massey Distinguished Service Awards at UNC-Chapel Hill. These awards recognize "unusual, meritorious or superior contributions" by University faculty and staff. Chancellor Thorp will honor the recipients, who were chosen from nominations from the campus community, at a luncheon on April 28. Each will receive a $6,000 stipend and an award citation.
Jackie Overton (pictured), a member of District 19 since 1998, received a C. Knox Massey Distinguished Service Award. She has served the University for more than 26 years and is now a professional development manager in the Department of Public Safety. With her support, several DPS employees have completed two and four-year degrees, as well as post-graduate certificates.
For the past two years. Overton has served as chair of the UNC Employee Forum.
